Muscular and skeletal pain can cause severe and ongoing discomfort, and is experienced by thousands of Australians. If the pain is mild, many just “tough it out,” but find that the problem gets worse year by year. Severe muscular, skeletal, joint or nerve pain can incapacitate people, making it impossible for them to exercise or live the life they want to live.

Traditional Chinese medicine works to stimulate blood flow around affected areas to support strained or damaged and muscles and tissue.

ARTHRITIS
Most people with joint pain are diagnosed with arthritis, which is a general term for a number of different conditions that involve swollen, painful, and/or stiff joints.[showhide type="more1" more_text="Read more..." less_text="Read less"]

Arthritis is a major cause of disability and pain in Australia, with more than 3.85 million Australians affected. As our population ages, the incidences of arthritis is growing. Current trends suggest that by 2050, 7 million Australians will suffer from some form of arthritis.

Anti-inflammatory drugs are commonly prescribed for arthritis. In Asia, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, are the most common treatments used to fight joint and musculo-skeletal disorders like arthritis.

BACK PAIN
Back pain is very common, and about half of all people who experience back pain will have further episodes, so early management is important.[showhide type="more2" more_text="Read more..." less_text="Read less"]

Back pain can be caused by injury, inflammation, tension or spasm of the muscle, ligament, cartilage or bone, and can be made worse by certain lifestyle factors such as lack of exercise and sedentary behaviour, being overweight or obese, poor posture and bad work practices such as lifting heavy items incorrectly.

Traditional Chinese medicine names the lower back “the mansion of the kidneys”, as it is most closely related—but not limited—to the health of the kidney system. Chinese medicine also states “if there is free flow, there is no pain”, so the acupuncture and other modalities work to free blocked energy around the kindneys in order to relieve the source of back pain.

NECK AND SHOULDER PAIN
For people who work in the office, neck and shoulder muscle tension and stiffness are very common concerns. Acupuncture can be very effective when treating most neck and shoulder problems.

Sitting in front of a computer and typing for extensive periods of time will cause a lack of circulation in the tissue, and fatigue of the muscles involved around the neck and shoulders. Neck stiffness can be also aggravated by other common reasons, many of which can be effectively treated with acupuncture.

NERVE TROUBLES
Nerve troubles can be a result of bodily imbalance or stagnation, which can be relieved by acupuncture and other modalities of traditional Chinese medicine.

Treatments can serve to soothe and relax the nerves, helping to abate the discomfort of nerve troubles.
